SOLVED VeYe IMX462 driver on Jetson Orin Nx 8G
-
Dear all, I purchase VeYe IM462 camera module and connect to Jetson Orin NX 8G (with carrier board J401 from seeed studio), I follow the wiki step etc but fail to get the driver work. I try the jetpack 5.1.1 with L4r35.3.1; Jetspack 5.1 with 35.2.1 also, but still fail to detect the camera. Can anyone have advise f or me ?

@vincentng seeed的J401底板上,的确i2c访问VEYE 462模组是不通的。这个问题我们跟seeed的人在沟通,但是他们的技术支持比较消极。
不知您能否给那边一点压力去解决?我们可以很积极的配合。 -
@veye_xumm Same problem for us! I very much appreciate your efforts to help solve this.

@veye_xumm Thanks for reply. I'm trying to contact SeeedStudio's supporting. But may I know if the I2C port using another I2C or what any other concerns about the I2C drvier ? Is the I2C driver in seperate ko or inside the CSI driver ko ?
I'd raise out the issue on Seeed's forum also. https://forum.seeedstudio.com/t/j401-with-orin-nx-8g-connect-to-veye-imx462-camera-module/270931 Or you can also join in the discussion so the issue can be more easily communicate.

@vincentng Thanks for raising this on the Seeed Forum. I have been emailing Seeed Tech suppport techsupport@seeed.io, and they were to get a Product Manager to assist, but nothing has happened.
-
@john THanks for supporting to report the issue to SeeedStudio, I think we can do nothing but pray...
@veye_xumm anything we can try to revise the I2C or CSI driver ?
-
@vincentng said in VeYe IMX462 driver on Jetson Orin Nx 8G:
anything we can try to revise the I2C or CSI driver ?
The current situation is that even i2cdetect cannot detect the VEYE camera properly, so I believe that adjusting the higher-level driver logic will not be useful.
-
@veye_xumm If that's the case, we can only give up J401 board from Seeed studio ? Or can you help to advise which carrier board with Orin NX 8GB can match veye IM462 camera ?
-
@vincentng We are close to giving up on the Seeed Orin Nano carrier board, and will try to return the units we bought.
I have the same question for Orin Nano Carrier boards, do you have any advice on boards that do work with the Veye IMX462? (And that have the same dimensions, we don't have room in our device for something bigger).
-
@vincentng
I am very disappointed with Seeed's attitude towards handling our issue.
They completely ignored our questions and have not responded to our emails or WeChat messages. The board below is one that we have collaborated on and debugged the driver together. -
@veye_xumm Understood, and thanks for the Plink reference, which looks good. However, this has a larger format and would not fit in our unit.
-
@veye_xumm It is good news that you are finally getting a response from Seeed Studio, but do you think the fault could be corrected by software or might it require a hardware redesign of the Seeed Carrier Board?
-
@vincentng We had the same problem with our 462 on the J202 with an Xavier NX Module. We ended up purchasing A206 boards and they worked fine. ReComputer uses a raspberry pi chip for power management on their carrier boards. I think it communicates over i2c I think. I think this is where the problem lies. We never dug into it any further. If there is a solution, I would be eager to know about. I would also be interested to know if your Orin NX works with a more generic carrier board and the IMX462. We may need that combination for our project soon. Good luck.

@howard, @vincentng, @veye_xumm is making some progress with Seeed after trying to get a response from them many times over (thanks!). We need the highly sensitive NIR IMX462 for our application and have tuned our code for the Veye ISP. @Howard what is the A206? Perhaps it could help us.

@john @Vincentng
Good news.
Seeed's engineers have already solved this problem and it requires upgrading the firmware of the USB hub chip.
If necessary, you can contact Seeed's engineers or wait for Seeed to officially release the solution. -
@veye_xumm Thanks for updates. WIll check with Seeed studio how to upgrade the firmware.
